Nancy Fitzgerald, Vice President
Nancy Fitzgerald, throughout her career, has exemplified
the meaning of teamwork. Whether working directly with physicians, developing referral relationships with
providers and insurers or starting up new long term acute
care hospitals (LTACHs), Nancy has been able to integrate
different groups with different goals into a cohesive team.
With Nancy at the helm, these teams have excelled in
their performance, exceeding business, financial and
clinical goals.
As corporate vice-president of a not-for-profit LTACH company, Nancy played a key role in the growth for the company’s first acility (over 100% increase in less than one year). She was instrumental in the expansion of the LTACH from one to three sites (38 to 95 beds) and directed efforts that resulted in the average daily census increasing by almost 130% in just five months.
Nancy’s team building skills have never been clearer than in her role in start up business development. She has worked for both not-for-profit and for profit companies. She led the charge in the start up of eight LTACHs, and the start up of ten outpatient ancillary businesses, and occupational medicine programs for a large mid-west health system.
As physicians can attest, Nancy can bridge the communication gap that frequently exists between providers and physicians. Some believe it is her clinical background as a nurse that gives her this prized attribute. Others believe it is also her commitment to quality and her ability to “walk in the doctor’s moccasins.” While they may differ on the reason, they agree on one thinking: Nancy’s attributes are essential to building a strong medical community and provider relationship.
Among her other accomplishments, Nancy is a veteran of the Vietnam War. She achieved the rank of Captain and was the recipient of the Army Medal of Commendation.
Her ability to build sustainable teams and business are…
